The built-in Equation Editor is Schoology is currently not working properly in Tests/Quizzes. Schoology support has deemed this to be a "moderate impact" issue, so it is therefore not a high priority for them. They hope to have a resolution by the end of the month.
In the meantime, here is a work-around when on a Windows computer--
- Follow normal steps for putting an equation into a test/quiz.
- Before importing into the test/quiz, open the Windows "Snipping Tool". You can access snipping tool by clicking on the search button on the bottom of the task bar and typing in "snipping tool".
- After opening up the program click new in snipping tool and place your mouse cursor at the top left of the section you want to capture in a screen shot. Left click and drag your cursor till you cover everything you want in the image and let go of the left mouse button.
- Then click file > save as and save the new image where ever you would like to for quick reference.
- Close the equation maker in Schoology and then go to insert an image.
- Choose your new image/snip that you just created and import it. Now you have your equation in your test/quiz.
On a Chrome book--
- Follow the same steps up till the opening of snipping tool part.
- Instead once you have your equation written out you can hit ctrl, shift, and the open all windows button (above the "6" key). Doing so will gray out the screen and turn your cursor into a cross hair.
- You then select from the top left of what you want to capture and click and drag all the way to the bottom right of the desired selection.
- This will create a saved image (png) in the local files folder that can be uploaded and inserted as an image afterwards.
The Schoology Equation Editor does appear to be working in Assessments.
